Fusion Convertor™ is a free Macintosh OSX Universal Binary and Windows application which imports various file formats into your Alesis Fusion™ workstation. It also offers Bank Management, allowing you to organize your Banks, Programs, and Samples on your computer, and supports computer archiving of Volumes for organizational access.

Fusion Convertor™ also has a Pro version which costs $79.95 and expands the list of importable formats to just about everything possible; such as Kontakt, Giga, EXS24, and more. Although the Alesis Fusion is no longer manufactured by Alesis, Chicken Systems continues to support this free program plus adds support and functionality to its Fusion support through various products. Other Chicken Systems products that support the Alesis Fusion are Constructor (a generic Instrument builder) and Instrument Manager (a management/databasing utility).

Fusion Convertor™ supports the following import formats:

Using Direct Mode, Fusion Convertor™ writes directly into the Fusion™’s internal 40GB hard drive. Fusion Convertor™ also can write directly to Compact Flash cards inserted into the Fusion™ itself or ones hooked up to the computer itself.

Fusion Convertor™ also has an Archive Mode where you can offline create and assemble banks for later writing onto the Fusion hard drive or a Compact Flash emory card.

Note to Mac users: although the majority of graphics in these docs are of the Windows version, the Mac version works almost indentically and looks identically to the Windows version

What's our future plans for Fusion Convertor?

We are big fans of the Alesis Fusion and we were disappointed (like all of you) to see it taken out of production. Because the Fusion is very powerful and still has a stronger sample-playback engine then the competitors, we think it has staying-power to those who have them and thus needs a program that will support it adequately.

Fusion Convertor Pro came from our Fusion Convertor Free program that serviced Fusion owners for Mac and Windows. Basically it is the same front end, except it added many more conversion sources, such as Kontakt, EXS24, Giga, etc. using our award-winning Translator conversion engine. However, all these conversions were based on our older development code, as a result it was only initially made available on Windows.

Now that our new cross-platform Mac and Windows conversion engine is well-seasoned and highly-robust, we are going forward to revise Fusion Convertor.

We feel the Motif Creator interface is top-notch, so since we are doing all these revisions with Fusion Convertor, we have decided to phase out the older Fusion Convertor and it's interface and replace it with a brand-new program called Fusion Creator. This will be just like Motif Creator only for the Fusion. Since the Fusion is a bank-based format like the Motif, it fits in perfectly.

But don't worry; all features of Fusion Convertor will be in there, only designed in a more standardized and easy to use way.

Fusion Creator will have a Mac version now, and many formats will be added, including Recycle/ACID/AppleLoops. The sample-mapping facility is greatly expanded, plus the whole program has been revamped to work with our integrated coding systems. This makes Fusion Creatorhighly supportable and updateable for the future.

The Windows version has been completely "rewritten"; actually, it's taken on the Mac development code of Fusion Convertor Free. (The current version is actually Translator with a different interface.)

Fusion Convertor Free will be just like Fusion Creator, only better. Similar to FCP, it will add Recycle import and the sample-mapping facility will be greatly expanded.

Fusion Creator will be a free update for all Fusion Convertor Pro owners, and of course Fusion Creator Free will be freely available via download.

These programs will be out before the Christmas holidays.
